Song of the week 05/26/2015
Song of the week! 05/26/2015
The song of the week is... What Would You Do? covered by Bastille! I came across this song only a couple of days ago and I really do like this beats and sound. I feel as if the singers voice is giving the song more depth, more meaning, more vibrancy, and more life.

Song of the week! 05/19/2015
The song of the week is... No Control by One Direction! I know many of you dislike one direction, which is tragic, but this song is one of my favourites. The reason to as why I decided to choose this song was because I think that one of the singers voices was heard more, he was more prominent in the song and I liked that. His voice is unique and I enjoy how it carries most of the song. Enjoy if you can!

Quote Of The Day
“To light a light is to cast a shadow. One cannot exist without the other.”
What does this quote mean? (It is symbolic - it has nothing to do with candles and flames). What shadow have you cast on yourself? Describe how a character in a text you have read has experienced the same thing.
What this quote means is that when you get something good or wish to have something good, there has to be a negative side to it. It means, in order to get success, you have to sacrifice something. In our case, success would be the flame or the light, and the sacrifice that's taken place would be the shadow. I hypothesize this because in this applicable to many situations, it can be used to describe a character trait or an event.
A shadow I would say I've cast on myself is accepting the MST Program at West Humber. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited, I'm jubilant, I'm jovial, I can't complain because I had accepted, it's just that when I accepted the request, I had put many of my friendships on the line. Many of my friends, are going to go to West Humber too, and when i accepted, I kept in mind that I could be jeopardizing the current friendship we have. When I had gone to the MST Open house I was told that the classes would be separate from the regular program classes. The time I "lit the light" was by accepting this program, accepting it now would later on in my life open up a portal to help support me and get me somewhere. The shadow that came with this lit light, was losing my friends.

Song of the week! 05/13/2015
Song of the week (May 12, 2015):
The song of the week is.... $ting by The Neighbourhood! The reason why this is the song of the week is because i love discovering new songs which I haven't listened to before. This was one of them. Their sound isn't anything I've heard before, it's unique, it's different, and I love it!
Friends, Friends and more Friends!
Naomi, she lives in the United Kingdom. We became friends also in an iMessage group chat, we've known each other since March 2014. Sadly enough, I don't have a selfie anymore.
Mary, she lives in America, Ohio. We became friends when she had indirected my account and we began dming from there!
Shay, she lives in America, New York. We became "friends" over the fact that she used a butter knife to cut an apple which lead me to dming her teaching her how to actually cut an apple.
Connor, he lives in America, Florida. We became friends in February and i text him one time lyrics to piss him off.
Alaa and Rouba, both of them live in London, Ontario. They already knew each other in real life and I joined into a group chat with them.
Paola, she happens to live in America and is fluent in Spanish. We met in a group chat I was in with Alaa and Rouba.
Erika, she lives in Oakville, Ontario. We happened to meet in the same group chat I was in with Mads.
Liz, she lives in Australia, Sydney. Although the time zones are rough, we manage to speak to each other.
Although there are more I shall stop here. I am thankful for every single one of my friends. Some I haven't spoken to in a while, but when we do speak, it becomes a memorable moment. I can easily say that each one of these people have influenced me in a way. I am insanely grateful that I have spoken to each and everyone of them, I haven't even finished naming them all! (Yes I know I have so many American friends.)

TV Shows; favourites and recommendations!
As a pastime, many of us choose to watch tv series on netflix, or actual tv. I've had plenty of free time over the weekends and I've watched plentiful shows that I would recommend.
If you're into paranormal shows, Supernatural is surely a favourite of mine. The show had started in 2005, and is still going strong 10 years later. The show has 10 seasons and a lot goes down. Things like: the apocalypse, death and then coming back to life, living in purgatory (where everything paranormal goes: vampires, leviathans, demons, and all sorts of monsters) hell and visiting heaven, possessions, murder cases and everything really. This show is one of my favourites! In the ten seasons, there are about 20 or more episodes which are each 49-45 minutes long. Also on Netflix, every season except for 10 is there, happy watching!
Another show I would recommend is Grey's Anatomy. I myself have just recently started the show about two weeks ago and am on season three. I believe there are 11 or 12 seasons but on Netflix, there are 10. The first season is 9 episodes, these episodes last for 40-45 minutes as well. But as soon as you get to season two, you're in for a big surprise. The seasons get way longer. Season two had 28 episodes! That's triple the amount season one had! But it's worth it. The show is about these 5 interns at Seattle Grace Hospital. Alex, Izzie, Meredith, George, and Cristina. The show itself is from Meredith's point of view so far, (I'm only on season 3 and its been from her point of view). The show starts off with her speaking about something, and then ends with her completing the thought. Although the show shows what's going on in each interns lives, the doctors, the patients, the chief, and more.
So far these are the top two shows I currently watch and hope you consider watching them too!
Music- to genre or to not genre?
Tell me about a type of music you detest and why (2 specific reasons). Is this music just rubbish or is it merely that you don't like it? The beats are horrid? The lyrics are pointless? Provide a specific example and lyrics to support your position.
She’s had enough of feeling like dying
She ain’t going out like that
Everybody, here comes the life of the party, yeah she is
He might have left her broken hearted
I'd have to say, country music is the one genre out of many that I detest the most. Why? I feel that this genre is just irritating and pointless. I can comprehend that country music is something that I don't appreciate and thus I do not bother acknowledging it.
The reason to as why I strongly dislike is because of the sounds. The sounds and beats of country music make me want to plug my ears and pretend I didn't hear a single word. I don't enjoy the sound of country music solely because all the beats conjoined and the sound that is being portrayed. The beats are truly loathsome! Country music has abhorrent beats and I for one, am not a fan.
The second reason I have to as why I cannot endure listening to this genre of music is because some of the lyrics that have been produced. I had searched through this list of country songs and tragically enough, I picked one to talk about. Here are some of the lyrics that are in the song:
“He thought she’d be sitting home crying
She ain’t going out like thatShe’s had enough of feeling like dying
She ain’t going out like that
Everybody, here comes the life of the party, yeah she is
He might have left her broken hearted
But she ain’t going, going out like that.”
I've had the chance to read through and listen to the music and I can say, it's exactly what i thought it was, irritating. I didn't like the song, the one part I did, was the ending. I strongly disliked how the beats sounds, how the lyrics pulled together, and the song overall.

Pictures!
The task assigned for the pictures was for our poetry soirée. We had to create 3 poems, two based on a certain topics, and the last one based on anything. For my last poem, the one where we could pick our topic, I chose to do mine on the sky. I had taken pictures already from December, and put use to them in March.

Holding it together!
Out of the many projects that i had seen, i picked a couple of students and their projects to interview and see how their project came together.
Here are two kids, their projects, and what they have to say. (I have given each project a nickname of its own)
1. “Rainbow Road”
As you can see in the picture, there are rainbows! This bridge was created by Mohit. He had explained to me that his family had helped him create the project, the fasteners he used were hot glue AND his structure is indeed stable! “My favourite part would be all the rainbows,” he went on to say, “The purpose of the bridge is to get one car to the other side without harming anything on the bottom.” I continues to ask questions, and from what i heard, this bridge could go over a large body of water or a jungle as well.
2. Sit and Stand!
The next person i had spoken to was a little girl named Gabby. What she had created was a stable stool! I like to call this, the Sit and Stand! Although this seems small, it's durable and strong! I sat on it and along with a couple of other students, some even stood and i can easily say it was as stable as a table! I asked Gabby what made it so stable and she said that triangles help make the joints stronger. With a great project comes favourite parts. Gabby explained that her favourite part was painting it and not only that, her favourite flowers are the teal and pink ones! She hadn't created this project by herself, her parents helped her build it.
We can visibly see the immense talent and creativity shining out of all the grade one's. The projects they had presented to us were great, each had its own purpose, each had a different way to look at it, and each had its own creativity and uniqueness given to them. Which now concludes my news article, I want to thank the grade one's for presenting such beautiful and well thought of projects and their teachers for helping putting it together.

Children's Mental Health!
Does social media have a negative impact or positive impact on children's mental health? Be specific and say examples in your response.
As well create a poster similar to the ones we constructed last week to raise awareness and build attention for children's mental health issues. Post this response and your picture on your blog.
I think that depending on what you're on, what you post, and who you speak to is a large factor to pay attention to. for example let's say you're on Twitter and you're in a mutual was someone (they follow you and you follow them), and you guys begin to speak over direct message. When and if you become friends it could have caused a positive impact. How? The person you're speaking to could be someone funny or someone who makes you feel happy but if there's another person and this person doesn't make you feel happy and they're putting you down this could cause a negative impact.
An example of a positive impact I have personally experienced would be to make friends over Twitter. A few people who i have spoken to for a long period of time are: Ange, Shay, Madison, Alaa, Rouba, and Paola! There are many others as well, but all these people have caused a positive impact on my life. Although to hear about a negative impact, I'll give you s story. My friend had known this girl for a while, and then the girl had all of a sudden just started attacking her at school and over social media. So like any sensible person, she blocked them and walked away from the girl at school. That worked until, the girl got her friends to attack her. In the end she had contacted Twitter and had their accounts suspended, but after that incident she didn't seem to be the same.
As I do not use Facebook, im going to use the Unfriended example. In case any of you haven't seen the movie unfriended or have heard of it it's basically about this girl Laura Barnes who committed suicide because of this video someone had posted about her. The comments on the video were terrible, some slut shaming, others telling her to die and so forth. This had obviously been a negative impact.
In conclusion, depending on the use for the social media it could either have a negative or positive impact.
